We have some avid music lovers at The Hoffman Agency, and everyone felt pretty strongly about their picks for this week.

90.   誰能明白我 (Who understands me) — George Lam

91.   绿光 (Green Light) — 孙燕姿 (Stefanie Sun)

92.   BTS — Dynamite

93.   Everybody Wants to Rule the World — Tears For Fears

While Senior Account Manager Carey Kerns admitted that it’s a daunting task to choose just one song, ultimately, she had to stay true to one of her all-time faves:

The upside of being four months into the HA Jamz journey is also the downside of being four months into the HA Jamz journey. I’ve had a lot of time to think about and mull over all the songs and artists I know and love. Add to that the fact I’ve been alive for a while, and my music library is fairly extensive. Like Kymra, Steve and several others who have gone before me, I love music; numerous artists and all kinds of genres.

So, I decided to go with the first song that popped into my head when Lou’s email arrived May 7 first introducing HA Jamz.

While the themes and lyrics feel particularly apropos for our current times, this song is one I can listen to over and over again and never tire of — just ask my family. It reminds me of my Gonzaga college days and starting my PR career.

My sister Tracy and I share a special love for and a Tears For Fears (TFF) bond. We’ve seen them perform several times, and we own every album/CD. A couple of years ago, we were really close to jumping on a plane for London since the band wasn’t touring in the U.S.

I’m a little proud to say I’ve successfully passed down the love of TFF to the next gen. Having grown up hearing their music, both my sons Antonio and Alessandro, and by extension their friends, are TFF fans.

I admit it — I’m in a Facebook fan group with people from around the globe who also feel TFF is “the best band of the 80s and beyond.”

While there have been many covers of the song, including Weezer’s recent version, for a totally different take on this classic, check out Ted Yoder’s hammered dulcimer cover. It became one of the most-watched Facebook Live posts in 2016.
