I often think that the communications business is undergoing its version of the industrial revolution.

Journalists are acting like PR people.

PR people are doing their best imitation of journalists.

The mantra, “Every company is a media company,” is now getting funded.

And companies are still investing major sums of money in the humble news release, over $4,000,000,000 last year by my count, with most not making a sound.

I enjoy talking about the state of the communications industry and advocating for content that zigs when everyone else’s zags. Here’s an example from a talk in Hong Kong that evangelizes the benefits of storytelling.
